Design Hero received a call from Fergus Wilkie. Fergus is a professional photographer from St Andrews, Scotland, with a reputation for high-quality photography for high profile media outlets across the UK. Fergus had a book launch coming up for his new photography book “St Andrews Photographs” and needed a new website to sell his new book online. He was determined to get an online shop up and running so his customers could purchase the book from the book launch day. Fergus asked Design Hero to come in and save the day by turning around not just 1 but 2 new websites before launch day. The design spec was extremely precise, so naturally, Design Hero rose to the challenge to achieve a demanding brief!
The first website was a high-spec gallery site to highlight Fergus’s photography portfolio from across the globe.
The second website was an e-commerce website to act as an online shop for book sales and allow Fergus’ guests at his book launch to purchase the book online.
Both were designed to millimetre perfect specifications and Design Hero over-delivered not just 1 but 2 websites ahead of schedule.

The online shop for the book was to follow the design of the book; Extremely minimalist, bare minimum of copy to letΒ the photography shine through
We allowed the user a few select glimpses of the book and the barest of previews of the book on the website to entice further sales
The website features the new book from a variety of angles, letting the strong photography do the heavy lifting
We created an interactive map on the new photography website, where the user could preview some of Fergus’s photos from East to West of St Andrews.
the second website is a pure photography portfolio website. The new website design features a series of photo galleries that the client can manage and update his own galleries himself.
The new photography website features a fullscreen slide-in menu, with hover effects for the user to preview each photography category.
The online shop for the new book follows the minimalist aesthetic and features a sticky minicart, to keep as much clutter off the photography as possible.
